Gale Shanks Scotch Original Oil Painting New Hope PA Delaware River Winter 11x14

Original oil on canvas winter view of a river town, signed Scotch at the lower right, by New Hope, Pennsylvania artist Gale Shanks Scotch (the same hand as her Peggy's Cove painting from this estate, which carries her business card). The scene reads as New Hope seen across the Delaware from the Lambertville side: a white church steeple above a row of colorful riverfront shops and inns, the green truss bridge at the left, a partly frozen river reflecting the buildings, and snowy banks with bare sycamores in the foreground. Thick, lively brushwork and bright winter color. Canvas 11 by 14 inches (stamped on the stretcher). Wide flat profile gold leaf wood frame, overall approximately 17 by 19 inches (measured from photos, please allow small variance). Not glazed. Wired to hang. Condition: canvas and paint surface are intact with no cracking or lifting seen. The gold leaf frame shows noticeable scuffing and finish loss across the face, consistent with age; it presents fine from a few feet but could be replaced.
