R. Drewal Original Watercolor Winter Snow Sugar Maple Sap Buckets Cabin Framed
Original watercolor signed R. Drewal at the lower right. A big old sugar maple hung with sap buckets stands in the foreground of a snow covered yard, with a smoking chimney on a snug farmhouse, a green outbuilding, a tall spruce and a wall of dark evergreens behind. Snow is falling across the whole scene and the shadows on the snow are washed in soft blues and lavenders for a quiet cold light effect. Double matted in cream and tan, in an ornate champagne gold finish wood frame with an embossed leaf border and bead inner edge, under glass, wired to hang. Overall frame approximately 16 by 14 inches; image approximately 9 by 6 inches (measured from photos, please allow small variance). Condition: very good from the front, no foxing, tears or water damage seen. Frame has minor finish wear consistent with age, no breaks. Backing board shows light age toning and dust, hanging wire intact.
