Framed and Signed Flower Still Life Painting: Anna Sophie Gasteiger

A charming floral still life painting signed 'a. Gosterige' in the lower right corner, attributed to Anna Sophie Gasteiger, a noted German painter (1872-1944) known for her luminous botanical and floral compositions. The painting depicts a blooming azalea or rhododendron in a decorative octagonal blue-and-white chinoiserie ceramic pot, set against a softly draped curtain background with warm ambient light. The brushwork is confident and impressionistic, with lush dark greens and delicate pale pink blossoms rendered with depth and texture on what appears to be canvas. The work is housed in a painted green wood frame with clipped octagonal corners, under glass. The frame shows age-appropriate wear including paint chips and minor scuffs. There is some glare visible under the glass in photographs, consistent with an older glass cover. Overall the painting itself appears to be in good condition with rich, unfaded color. Approximate overall framed dimensions appear to be roughly 14 by 17 inches, though buyers should confirm exact measurements prior to purchase.
