Mason's Patent Nov 30th 1858 Aqua Blue Pint Fruit Jar with Zinc Lid Antique
Antique fruit jar embossed MASON'S PATENT NOV 30TH 1858 in the familiar arched lettering across the front, with the original zinc screw lid included. The glass is a lovely soft aqua blue that reads much bluer in daylight than photos usually catch, with bubbles and gentle waves through the body from the old molds. Pint size, standing about 5 inches tall. Condition is good antique: the glass has no chips and no cracks, with some interior haze and dust that a soak will take care of. The zinc lid is original in look and threads on properly, and it shows heavy grey oxidation and a little rust staining where it meets the glass. Sold as a display and storage jar rather than for canning. Great on a kitchen shelf, holding utensils or flowers, or lined up with other blue jars in a window.
