Guys and Dolls 1955 Movie Souvenir Program Brando Sinatra Framed Samuel Goldwyn
An original souvenir program for the 1955 Samuel Goldwyn film of Guys and Dolls, the big-screen version of the Frank Loesser musical. The cover reads Samuel Goldwyn presents America's Own Musical over the banner title, with the four leads walking arm in arm, Marlon Brando as Sky Masterson, Jean Simmons as Sarah Brown, Frank Sinatra as Nathan Detroit and Vivian Blaine as Miss Adelaide, against a pale blue ground. The original fifty cent cover price is printed in a red circle at the lower right. The program is presented in a carved limed-oak-look frame measuring about 12 by 16 inches overall. Condition: the cover colors are still bright with no significant fading, and the artwork reads well across a room, but there is scattered soiling and spotting across the light blue background, and edge and corner wear. The frame itself is a later decorative frame, not original to the program, and shows chips and paint loss at the corners. The interior pages have not been examined, since the program is mounted in the frame; buy this as the display piece it has become rather than as a collated collector's copy. Note for buyers outside the local area: framed, this is an awkward and costly item to ship, so local pickup is preferred.
