Movie Weekly Magazine 1924 Lot of 4 Issues Silent Film Chaplin Normand Davies

$34.99
Collectibles

Four original 1924 issues of Movie Weekly, the tabloid-format silent era fan weekly, roughly 11 by 14 inches each. April 19, 1924, cover portrait of Gladys Quartaro photographed by Russell Ball, with My New Leading Lady by Charlie Chaplin, Rex Ingram on Why I Am Leaving the Screen, and a Mabel Normand feature. February 2, 1924, cover of Peggy Shaw photographed by George Maillard Kesslere, with Mabel Normand and Will Hays on fraudulent movie schools. May 10, 1924, cover of Richard Dix photographed by Sparry, with Dix guest editing the issue and Gloria Swanson spending a day as a salesgirl. August 30, 1924, cover of Viola Dana photographed by Edwin Bower Hesser, with Marion Davies telling her life story and a piece by Norma Talmadge. Condition is poor to fair across the lot and priced that way: the newsprint is toned and brittle, all four have edge chipping and corner losses, the April 19 cover has a clipping pasted over part of the image, the May 10 issue has significant tearing and paper loss at the lower spine, and the August 30 issue has tears along the right edge with a chunk missing at the upper left. All four covers are legible and the cover images are essentially readable. Interiors have not been collated, so treat this as a display, research and framing lot rather than a collector-grade run.
