Original National Geographic Society supplement map, The World, December 1935, issued with The National Geographic Magazine under editor Gilbert Grosvenor. Cartography by Albert H. Bumstead, culture by James M. Darley, physiography by Charles E. Riddiford, lithographed by A. Hoen and Co. of Baltimore. The sheet is laid out as two large hemispheres on an azimuthal equal area projection, with a Land Hemisphere inset at the upper left, two time zone globes in the lower corners, and central panels of earth statistics and geographical name equivalents. Pre war political geography throughout. Roughly 36 by 24 inches unfolded. Condition is fair to good and is the main thing to weigh: the paper is tanned and browned overall, fold creasing is heavy across the whole sheet, there is a small paper loss at one central fold intersection, and several fold ends have started to split at the edges. Color is still clear, with blue green oceans and tan landmasses reading well, and there is no writing or stamping on the face. Original 1935 printing, not a reproduction. A good candidate for framing if the buyer is comfortable with honest fold lines.
