Postmodern Sculptural Barrel Tub Accent Chair 1980s Cream Taupe Reptile Texture

$169.99
Furniture

Fully upholstered barrel tub chair in the sculptural postmodern idiom of the late 1970s through the 1980s. The silhouette is the reason to want it: a tall, deeply scooped barrel back that sweeps down without a break into rounded open arms, with no exposed wood anywhere and fully upholstered tapered legs carrying the line to the floor. Photographed from the side it reads almost like a piece of sculpture. This is the look that reads as Milo Baughman or Directional era design, though this chair carries no maker label and we are not attributing it to anyone. Upholstered in a cream and taupe small scale pebbled fabric with a tone on tone reptile texture, woven rather than printed. Seat is closely fitted rather than a loose throw cushion. Approximately 30 inches wide, 32 inches tall at the back and 29 inches deep. Please confirm measurements before you plan a space around it. Condition: good and structurally sound. The frame is solid with no wobble noted. Back and arms are clean and hold good loft. The seat shows general flattening from use and very light soiling across the center, visible in the side angle photo. No tears, pulls, burns or stains beyond that seat wear. The fabric is original and dated, which is worth saying plainly: many buyers will want to reupholster, and this frame is a good candidate for it. Local pickup in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. This is a full size chair and does not ship by parcel; contact us before buying if you need delivery arranged.
