Antique Kent-Coffey "The Evanshire" Mahogany Bow-Front Chest of Drawers with Dentil Molding
A handsome antique Kent-Coffey "The Evanshire" mahogany bow-front chest of drawers in the Georgian or Hepplewhite tradition. The piece features a beautifully carved dentil molding frieze running along the top cornice, curved bow-front drawer facades, and original-style brass hardware including bail pulls and an escutcheon key on what appears to be a locking drawer or cabinet section. The warm, rich mahogany finish shows deep reddish-brown tones with attractive wood grain visible on the sides. The case rests on bracket feet, a hallmark of 18th- and early-19th-century American and English case furniture. Condition notes: the feet show meaningful wear, with chipping, veneer loss, and finish deterioration at the bases of multiple feet, one foot shows a significant chunk missing from the lower corner. The cornice and dentil molding are intact and crisp. The body and drawer fronts appear sound with age-appropriate patina. Hardware appears original or period-appropriate. This piece has genuine antique character and would be a lovely addition to a traditional or eclectic interior, though the feet may benefit from a conservator's attention. Measurements should be confirmed in person, but visually the chest appears to be a standard tall bedroom chest, roughly 36 to 42 inches wide and 48 to 56 inches tall.
