Antique Blown Glass Teardrop Bottle Green Pontil Scar 19th Century
A striking antique free-blown glass bottle in a classic elongated teardrop or bladder form, mouth-blown in pale aqua-green glass typical of 18th to mid-19th century production. The body swells into a generous round base and tapers smoothly up to a long neck with an applied double-collar lip finish. The glass exhibits all the hallmarks of hand production: visible air bubbles trapped in the walls, surface striations from the blowing process, and a prominent pontil scar on the base indicating it was finished on a pontil rod. The bottom retains a substantial deposit of old sediment or mineral residue, consistent with long-term storage or burial. Surface scratching and light soil are present throughout the body. No embossing or mold seams are visible, confirming free-blown construction. Approximate overall length lying flat is roughly 12 to 13 inches, with the body globe approximately 5 to 6 inches in diameter and the neck opening roughly 1 inch in interior diameter. The bottle is empty and intact with no chips or cracks noted. A wonderful display piece for bottle collectors, early American or European antiques enthusiasts, or decorators seeking authentic vintage glass.
