Vintage Sun Sculpture U&U Trademark Sundial Wood Cross Metal Base

A fascinating and unusual vintage sundial combining a dark-stained wooden Latin cross as the gnomon with a curved pewter-tone cast metal base. The metal base band is embossed with floral and botanical engravings and bears a clearly stamped trademark reading 'Sun Sculpture U&U Trade Mark' inside a sunburst logo. The cross serves as the upright gnomon element, held in place by a small brass bracket fitting at the intersection point, with a turned wooden peg below acting as a pivot or positioning pin. The interior of the metal base is finished in black and shows the shadow-casting channel typical of a portable or tabletop sundial. Construction is a mix of cast or spun metal and solid hardwood.
