Chinese Cloisonne Enamel Brass Lidded Box, Shou Symbol Floral Decor
A charming Chinese brass box with raised cloisonne-style painted enamel decoration. The body features an octagonal lobed form with vibrant blue-ground panels depicting traditional architectural scenes, including pagodas and garden landscapes, separated by brass fillet borders with engraved scroll motifs. The fitted round lid displays a central Shou (longevity) medallion surrounded by colorful bats, peonies, and foliage on a turquoise-blue ground, all in raised polychrome enamel. The interior is plain brass. Marked 'China' on the base, consistent with mid-20th-century export production. Approximate overall dimensions: 3.5 inches diameter, 3 inches tall assembled. Condition shows honest age and use: patina and oxidation spotting on the brass base and interior, minor enamel wear on the body panels, and one area of enamel loss or chipping visible on the lower body. The lid fits snugly. A decorative and collectible piece with strong visual appeal.
