Lionel 6457 O Gauge Caboose Brown Postwar 1947 Model Train Car
Classic postwar Lionel O gauge caboose, number 6457, in the iconic brown finish. Both sides of the car body clearly read 'LIONEL 6457' along with the Lionel circle-L herald. Stamped markings on the body read 'C-48-1 BUILT 9-47,' placing production in September 1947, making this a first-year example of the 6457. The caboose features a raised cupola with window openings, multiple side windows, end platform railings, and metal wire grab irons on both ends. The underframe is black-painted metal with two four-wheel die-cast trucks. Both couplers appear present and functional. Approximate length is 7 inches over the couplers, fitting standard O gauge layouts. Condition is used and played-with: the brown paint shows general wear and light surface dirt, and the underframe has oxidation and grime consistent with over 75 years of age. The wire grab irons are intact and the cupola detail is undamaged. No original box is included. A solid, displayable example of a sought-after early postwar Lionel caboose, perfect for running or display on a classic O gauge layout.
