Lionel O gauge gondola car number 6462 lettered for New York Central (NYC). The car body is molded in black plastic with nicely detailed panel and rivet texturing on the interior floor and exterior walls. End bracing features the classic cross-ribbed pattern typical of Lionel gondolas from this era. Markings on the side read 'NYC 6462' with capacity data and 'NEWS-49,' and the underside oval stamp reads 'Built by Lionel.' The car rides on two die-cast trucks with metal wheels and operating couplers at both ends. Approximate length is 10 inches over the couplers. Condition is good used: the body retains most of its lettering, the trucks show oxidation and light surface grime, one truck assembly appears slightly loose or rotated, and the interior shows some dust and minor scuffs. No visible cracks or breaks to the body shell. A solid runner for O gauge layouts or a great addition to a postwar Lionel display collection.
