Antique Wood & Iron Cotton/Wool Card Hand Carder Tool Pair
Vintage hand carder (card cloth/paddle carder) consisting of a wooden block base mounted on a flat wooden paddle/handle board. The top surface is densely packed with iron wire teeth (card cloth) set into a leather or heavy fabric backing attached to the wooden block. The teeth show significant patina and surface rust consistent with age. The flat paddle base extends beyond the spiked block, typical of hand carders used for carding raw wool, cotton, or fiber before spinning. Construction appears to be hand-crafted or early industrial production. Wood shows checking, cracking, and wear throughout. Several teeth are bent or missing. No maker's markings visible in photos. Approximate overall dimensions: roughly 10-11" long x 4-5" wide x 5-6" tall. Pickup only due to fragile aged construction.
