Rare antique hand saw manufactured by The Simonds Saw Mfg. Co., headquartered in Fitchburg, Massachusetts with branch offices in Chicago, IL, New York, New Orleans, Portland OR, Seattle WA, and San Francisco, CA - as etched on the blade. The handle medallion reads 'The Simonds Saw Mfg. Co. Warranted, Pat. Dec. 27, 1887,' allowing for precise dating to post-1887 production. The handle features an ornately carved wood grip with decorative leaf/laurel motifs and the distinctive Simonds split-top carved handle design. The blade carries the full etched banner logo in excellent legibility. Blade appears approximately 26 inches in length with fine crosscut teeth. Handle shows significant patina, paint loss, and age-related wear consistent with its age. Blade has surface oxidation and some dark patina but no kinking or major pitting noted. Teeth appear largely intact. A highly collectible example of late 19th-century American tool manufacturing.
