Antique W. Jennings & Co. New York Hand Saw Carved Handle
Antique hand saw bearing the maker's medallion 'W. Jennings & Co., New York' visible on the ornate carved wooden handle. The handle features elegant carved leaf/wheat motif decorations and a classic open-tote (pistol grip) style with decorative horns at top and bottom - highly characteristic of high-quality 19th century American saw making. The blade appears to be a rip or panel saw configuration, tapering toward the toe. Blade shows expected patina, surface oxidation/rust spots, and age-related darkening. One notable rust/patination patch visible mid-blade. Handle retains good structural integrity with carved details largely intact; some wear to wood surface consistent with age and use. Brass/bronze split-nut medallion fasteners visible. Overall length appears approximately 24-26 inches - staff should measure. A desirable antique tool collector's piece.
