Antique Simonds Hand Saw Carved Wheat Handle 26" Panel Saw

$100.00
GoodTools

Antique Simonds hand saw featuring a beautifully carved applewood or beech handle with intricate wheat/laurel leaf decorative carving - a hallmark of Simonds quality saws from the late 19th to early 20th century. The handle retains three brass/medallion split nuts securing it to the blade. A circular embossed medallion is visible near the lower bolt. The blade appears to be approximately 26 inches in length with a taper-ground plate and fine crosscut tooth pattern visible along the bottom edge. An etched medallion/logo is visible near the top of the blade, which is typical of Simonds Saw Co. (Fitchburg, MA) production. Blade shows age-appropriate patina, surface oxidation, and light rust/darkening consistent with honest use and storage. The handle has minor wear, small chips, and surface grime but the carved decoration is largely intact and legible. Teeth appear present and reasonably intact - sharpness not confirmed. A great display piece or usable antique tool for the collector or working craftsman.
