Antique Set of 5 Fiddle Pattern Silver Spoons Spence Newark NJ

Set of five antique teaspoons in the classic Fiddle pattern, marked by Spence of Newark, NJ. The Fiddle pattern features a flat, paddle-shaped handle that widens at the end - a popular American silversmithing style of the 19th century. The back of at least one spoon shows a maker's mark consistent with Spence, Newark, NJ, a known American silversmith/silverplate firm. All five spoons appear to be matching. Heavy tarnish/patina throughout, with darkening concentrated on the handles and backs of bowls. Some engraving or decorative detail visible at the bowl shoulder on the back of one spoon (appears to be a monogram or floral motif - see close-up photo). No obvious bends or breaks visible, though the handles show surface wear and pitting consistent with age. Estimated length approximately 5.5 - 6 inches based on proportions. Sold as a set of five.
