Antique Hand-Forged Iron Rush Light / Candle Holder on Wood Block

Fascinating early American or European antique rush light or candle holder featuring hand-forged wrought iron construction mounted on a turned/hewn wooden block base. The iron element consists of what appears to be a scissor-style adjustable grip mechanism (typical of rush light holders) with a twisted iron stem and a small cylindrical socket on one arm, possibly for holding a tallow candle or rush. The twisted iron shank is driven into a rough-hewn, thick wooden block base that shows age-appropriate wear, checking/cracks, and patina. A small aged paper label is visible on the side of the wood base with faint markings. Heavy surface rust and oxidation throughout the iron components, consistent with significant age. Overall height approximately 9-11 inches estimated; base approximately 4-5 inches in diameter. No maker's marks visible in photos. Decorative and historically significant piece.
