Vintage Firestone Pilot 1940s-50s balloon tire cruiser bicycle project barn find
Classic mid-century American balloon tire cruiser bicycle, identified by staff as a Firestone Pilot, likely dating to the late 1940s to early 1950s based on styling cues. Features the iconic streamlined frame geometry of the era with a swept-back design, full fenders front and rear, and large balloon-style tires. The fork and headtube area are painted white/cream while the rest of the frame is red - this could indicate a repaint or an original two-tone factory finish. Red rubber handlebar grips with a heavily corroded/patinated green stem are present. The leather saddle shows significant wear and drying but retains its shape. Large decorative chainring/sprocket is visible and appears complete. The rear wheel features a coaster brake hub. Both tires appear to hold their shape though inflation condition is unknown. White-painted rims on the front wheel; rear rims show heavy patina. Heavy surface rust and paint loss throughout the frame, forks, and components. No brand badges, decals, or model markings are visible in the photos - brand attribution is based on staff identification. This is a solid barn-find project or display piece for the vintage bicycle collector. NOT rideable in current condition - strictly a restoration or display candidate. PICKUP ONLY due to size and weight.
